The Art of a Newsletter

Marketing isn’t about a single campaign or marketing activity such as one social media post, marketing is about a journey or story you want to take your brand ambassadors on. Your brand ambassadors could be your clients, potential clients or people that you share information with. Your ultimate goal with a marketing journey is to make it feel like a story rather than a whole heap of marketing campaigns. And that is why in 2014 I think a newsletter is a valuable tool for small businesses in Sydney. Ideally you do not want it to be time consuming and this is where today’s internet-email-society works perfectly to your advantage. Attention spans are small so keeping your content short and sweet is the best chapter in this story.
I find a newsletter reminds key people of why you are worth following/subscribing. Ultimately you want to add benefit for the reader. They have to get something out of it or it’s just not worth your email taking up valuable space in their inbox. Combining your story and value is the key.
From a logistics perspective I love using Mail chimp to deliver the journey to peoples inbox. It’s user friendly very dynamic and has so much capability. My one tip for using Mail Chimp is always copy and paste your text in notepad or word document before importing your text into the text fields.
