The Google Analytics Adventure

Today I created a weekly google analytics report for a client. I really love the story that google analytics tells about a business.

The story genre is representative of a 'choose your own adventure book'. Each visitor on your website starts at the home page but then everyone chooses their own direction. Google analytics enables you to watch their journey. I find this fascinating. I enjoy logging on each week and comparing the weekly visitor count. Particularly when I can see the jump in visitors on the weeks when we have executed marketing initiatives. It amazes me how the more you put out there, the more traffic you drive to your website.

The key to not becoming overwhelmed with Google analytics is knowing what you want from your website. Depending on your business it should be at least one of the following:

  • Sales

  • Lead generation

  • Or information thought leaders.

Once you have this is in mind, it makes it so much easier to determine the best marketing initiatives for your business. If you would like help with your google analytics contact us to help you set it up, and or get the most out of it.
